I am one of the Directors and co-founders of Vista. I spend my time meeting interesting people and businesses and I love hearing about what they do and then trying to help them find ways to reduce their risks and costs.
Together with my colleague Gavin I lead our Private Equity Team where I do a lot of technical work, either analysing coverage on an M&A transaction or arranging transactional cover. I also do audit work on existing insurance programmes when we are discussing our involvement with new clients. I also lead the team designing new products with our insurer partners.
I have been in the industry for more than 30 years. I started at Lloyd’s of London as my first job when I was a “wet behind the ears” kid from the valleys (well North Wales to be accurate) and have been an underwriter and worked with the insurance division of an international bank. I am a Chartered Insurance Broker.
Little known fact about me:
I once appeared at Theatre Clwyd singing and dancing in a musical version of Titus Andronicus
Outside the office:
I do some cycling – everywhere is uphill either going out or coming back where I live. I also love cooking and admit to watching “Bake Off” and “Masterchef”.
Most likely to say:
I am never going to watch that rubbish again (about once again going to see Wrexham FC)
My favourite saying or quote:
Quality means doing it right when no one is looking – Henry Ford
What makes me get out of bed in the morning:
I love what I do and I love doing stuff. When I wake up I have to get going on the day – sometimes (especially weekends and holidays) this is not always popular with others.
